EMT’s are permitted to own legal businesses or have second jobs as long as they can meet the time constraints set upon for the department.
EMT’s who do partake in criminal activity are required to serve their sentence; afterwards, they may be suspended for a time relevant to the crime they have committed and are unable to clock onto the EMT job until the suspension is complete. Repeated criminal activity may result in a demotion or being fired. The EMS Commissioner has the discretion to handle criminal activity involving their EMTs, and only they can determine the consequences for the EMTs involved.
